What's Love..?
I know what's love, screamed the 17 year old.
It was the way the most popular boy in school made her feel.
It was the way he scolded her when she made a mistake
and the way he smiled at her when she made a silly joke.
and the way he smiled at her when she made a silly joke.
It was the way he cared about her and called her his one and only.
It was the way he made her suddenly doubt herself.
It was when he blamed her for all his little 'bad' luck.
It was when he said that he expected her to tolerate when he prioritized his friends, and she smiled.
It was when she left his side before she "stole" all his luck.
Love was sacrifice, learnt the 19 year old.
I know what's love, yelled the 22 year old.
It was the way he comforted her and healed her broken heart.
It was the way they spoke so easily and got along so well
It was when they became best friends and shared everything to each other.
It was how he confessed one day that no matter how she looked, he would love her and never leave her side.
It was when he met her mother and told her that he swears, he will look after the daughter; always.
It was when she started seeing a different side of him and chose to keep silent.
It was when he gave her the sudden silent treatment that confused her and made her feel sick to the core.
It was when she suspected that he was cheating on her, yet chose to try and forgive him, stay on.
It was when she felt totally hopeless and depressed that she was losing both her love and her best friend, but kept a smile on her face.
It was when she resolved to let him go and move life forward.
Love was pain, strength, and growth, understood the 24 year old.
I know what's love, said the 25 year old.
She thought it was the way they connected despite the distance.
She thought it was in the sweet little things that he did.
She thought it was how he made her comfortable about herself.
She thought it was the weird way he behaved and the small fights.
She thought it was when he would make small things seem big and vice versa.
She thought it was when he came clean about his mental state and she decided to stay.
She thought it was when she knew he was wrong to hit her but stayed on out of pity.
She thought it was in her strength, to pull on for both of them whenever he went into a cave.
She really thought it was how she tried and tried to put his broken pieces together, even when it was doing her more damage.
She realised that he will never change or recover when he proposed marriage but disappeared after a few weeks; only to return and leave again, without even breaking up.
She finally realised that she had to look after herself and couldn't depend on him.
Love was knowing when to let go and safe yourself, felt the 26 year old.
I know what's love, smiled the 27 year old.
It was the way he spoke to her with a cute accent.
It was the way he opened doors for her and behaved like an absolute gentleman.
It was the way he made her swoon without intending to woo her.
It was the small things that he remembered and did.
It was the way he teased her and wanted to know more about her family and friends.
It was the way he looked at her when she spoke and how attentive he was.
It was the way they shared their daily activities and their inner most thoughts.
It was the gentle way he advised her and the cute way he teased her.
It was the crazy moments they shared on an almost daily basis.
It was when she realised that he may have to leave some day but still went with it.
It was when they both realised that for the sake of family, somethings just had to be left alone.
It was when he held her tight at the airport, knowing it may very well be their last hug.
It was when she finally understood that he felt more for her then he ever let on.
Love doesn't mean being together, love means cherishing each other even when you can never be together, explained the 28 year old, as the year began.
After everything that had happened. Everything that tore her apart. Broke her. That tested her. She rose a little more. Gained a little more. Hardened a little more. She ripped the 'fragile item' tape from her heart and smiled. She was ready to put herself out there again.
Now...she didn't have a single clue about love. Nor did she want to define what's love. She just knew. Knew that love was complicated.
Love was pain.....Love was joy.
Love was giving....Love was receiving.
Love was hard....Love was simple.
Love was wild... Love was peace.
Love simply didn't belong to one word or emotion. Love was in fact...EVERYTHING.
